Let's see, where should I begin? I joined Newsvine in June 2006, before the influx of people from the New York Times Forums, before the buyout by MSNBC.com. I joined about 2 months after the beta period expired, from what I'm told. I am one of the few unofficial Old Viners remaining, and my days may be coming to an end. Don't get me wrong, I still have a bit of affection remaining for Newsvine but I find my desire to be actively involved on a day-to-day basis has seriously waned in recent months. The 'Viners I used to interact with are no longer around. The joy of seeing that certain favorite 'Viners have posted new articles isn't there, because my favorite 'Viners aren't posting new articles anymore. There's too much politics. There's too much vitriol. The fun is just gone. The only one of my groups that seems to have somewhat active participation is SexVine, and that one is seeing many more seeds than articles written for it. The other groups I own are pretty much dead in the water for new submissions.
In short, I'm going to throw in the towel. I'm not going to write any articles. I'm not going to post any seeds. I may lurk with an occasional comment here and there, but that's it. I will retain ownership of my groups for the foreseeable future, but if I should decide to make my separation complete I will transfer ownership to another moderator with a proven track record. Anyone wishing to keep up with me outside of Newsvine can follow my primary Twitter feed or email me through the Contact Author link and I'll reply. Otherwise, it's been fun, y'all.
